Description	:	William was married to Mary Jane Cook. He was the son of Rev. Silas Jordan & S.B. Starnes Fincher. Enlisted on 10/4/1861 at Union Co., NC as a Corporal. On 11/6/1861, he mustered into F Co. NC 35th Infantry. He was killed on 12/13/1862 at Fredericksburg, VA Levi was born in Mecklenburg Co, which later became Union Co., NC Promotions: * Sergt 10/15/1862 (Est day of Promotion) He was "a faithful soldier, one who never failed to be at his post. He leaves relations and friends to mourn over the memory of the loved and fallen; a wife and little children to battle with the storms of life." (Charlotte Western Democrat, July 28, 1863.) According to family stories handed down, "William stated that the shells didn't scare him since he could hear them. He was worried about a sniper's bullet." He was killed by a shell during his sleep. At his death, he had a dime in his pocket. That dime was later made into a ring which is now owned by one of his descendants.
