Description	:	William Seward McAvoy, son of John H. and Lillian McAvoy, was born January 8, 1879, at Cayuga, New York. He came to Nebraska in 1888, and settled on a farm near Elwood. He also lived in Beatrice and Wymore, coming to Fairmont in 1910. On November 16, 1904, Mr. McAvoy was united in marriage with Miss Anna L. Thompson of Beatrice, to which union three children were born: Maurice F., now of Franklin, Paul W. of Carroll, Ia., and Elda Anita, who died in 1932. The mother of these children died on Sept. 27, 1926. Read More	William Seward McAvoy, son of John H. and Lillian McAvoy, was born January 8, 1879, at Cayuga, New York. On November 16, 1904, Mr. McAvoy was united in marriage with Miss Anna L. Thompson of Beatrice, to which union three children were born: Maurice F., now of Franklin, Paul W. of Carroll, Ia., and Elda Anita, who died in 1932. The mother of these children died on Sept. 27, 1926. On June 18, 1928, he married Miss Olive Jackson of Fairmont. Two children, Dorothy and Marlene, were born into this home. He is survived by his widow, Olive, the above named children, with the exception of the deceased daughter, and by one half-brother, Jugo, and one half-sister, Mrs. Bertha Johnson of Auburn, Wash., and three grandchildren. While in Fairmont, Mr. McAvoy was engaged for 15 years in the clothing business. He also operated a cleaning establishment for a time. At the time of his death he was employed in White's Bakery. Mr. McAvoy was interested in community and civic affairs and took an active part in them, serving at one time as treasurer and secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. In the year 1927, he joined the Congregational church of Fairmont. His death occurred Saturday, March 14, 1942 at his home, after a short illness, at the age of 63 years, two months and six days. Funeral services were held at the Fairmont Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, March 17, the pastor, Rev. R.W. Sandsted, officiating. A solo was rendered by Oliver Moul, and a quartet comprising Mrs. Charles Little, Mrs. W.R. Dorramce, Oliver Moul and Sidney Atwood Jr., sang, with Mrs. A.A. Ashby as organist. Pallbearers: Valti Capes, Leroy Stone, George White, Preston Ogden, Frank Ritchie and William Boren. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
