He was converted in August, 1847 and united with the M. E. church. In 1864 he moved to Michigan with his family, two years later he moved to Iowa, where he died Feb. 12, 1890, aged 65 years and 10 months. Throughout four months of constant pain he was never heard to complain but rejoiced constantly in a present Savior. The funeral services were conducted by the writer at the Coal Glen church, which was filled to its utmost capacity and a large number of people could not get into the church. He leaves a wife and one son together with a large number of neighbors and friends to mourn his loss. As a citizen his character was without stain, he was a warm-hearted Christian man. No one will be missed more than Father Shults. He was always willing to help the needy, comfort the sorrowing and hold the banner of Christianity high. While many mourn his loss yet we do not mourn as those without hope. We shall patiently await a triumphant resurrection and a glorious immortality. L. B.
