William Sterling Larson, the son of Gustav W. and Edith E. (Johnson) Larson was born on December 28, 1929 in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended school in Watertown, and graduated from Watertown High School in 1947. He attended Augustana College where he was a member of the Augustana College Choir, graduating in 1952. "Bill" Larson, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Prairie Lakes Care Center in Watertown. William Sterling Larson, the son of Gustav W. and Edith E. (Johnson) Larson was born on December 28, 1929 in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended school in Watertown, and graduated from Watertown High School in 1947. He attended Augustana College where he was a member of the Augustana College Choir, graduating in 1952. William entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict in Texas. On July 13, 1952 he married Ethelyn Johnson in Chester, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Watertown, where he was co-owner of Larson Clothing in Watertown for over 30 years. Ethelyn Larson passed away on December 2, 1980. On July 3, 1986 he married Nellie (Roggenbuck) Wiese in Watertown, SD. Bill was a sales representative for AAL Insurance from 1986-1990 in Fergus Falls, MN and then was self employed with his wife Nellie, from 1990-2005 in the craft business. Bill was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, was a founding member of the Grace Lutheran Church Foundation, and sang in the church choir for 40 years. He was also a former member of the American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, and was a Ducks Unlimited sponsor. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening. His children and grandchildren were especially important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ethelyn Larson; one brother, Waldemar "Bud" Larson; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Larson and Evelyn Leiseth. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Nellie Larson of Watertown; three daughters, Jean Larson of LaVista, NE, Lori (Jim) Rogers of Springfield, MO, and Kay Larson of Mason City, IA; his son, G. John (Mary) Larson of Watertown; his stepchildren, Phyllis (John) Wiles of Watertown, and Roy Wiese of Marietta, MN; his brother, Robert E. Larson of Watertown; one sister-in-law, Arleen Larson of Watertown; one brother-in-law, Henry Leiseth of Bryant, SD; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Arrangements by Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel.
