Read More	Garden County News (Oshkosh, Nebraska), Apr. 2, 1981, Page 8 William Thomas Leeper, son of Fred Leeper and Rosie May Meadows, was born September 25, 1888 in Smithland, Livingston County, Kentucky. He grew up near Muskogee, Oklahoma where his mother passed away when he was 15 years old. His father moved the family to Paducah, Kentucky where he farmed and was engaged in logging. As a young man Will took his three sisters and brother to Miami, Florida where the youngest sister lived with the Albury family. He supported them all by working as a streetcar motorman. In 1910 he came to Nebraska, later returning to Florida for his brother Robert, with whom he homesteaded in Wyoming and Nebraska. He was drafted to service in World War I with the U.S. Army in France. He returned to Nebraska and on August 20, 1920 was united in marriage to Roxie I. Cranmore at North Platte. To this union seven children were born. The family lived most of their lives on their farm east of Lewellen where, in addition to their seven children, they raised two nieces, Ursula Svitek, now of Donnelson, Florida and Lilas Aldrich of Oshkosh. Ill health caused them to retire from the farm. Will had been a resident of the Lewellen Nursing Home for several years before his death. Will Leeper passed away at the hospital in Oshkosh on March 28, 1981 at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife, Roxie of Oshkosh, four sons, Edward of Lewellen, Robert of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Albert of Ogallala. and Budd of Oshkosh; three daughters, Rosie Cooper of Oshkosh, Gloria Craig of Nampa, Idaho and Willa Ewing of Shelton, Washington; 34 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Burgess and Margaret Albury both of Miami, Florida; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Pallbears for William T. Leeper were his grandsons Joe Leeper, Donald Leeper, Dennis Leeper, Tom Cooper, Bobby Gene Cooper and Lynn Cooper. Funeral services for Mr. Leeper were held Tuesday morning, March 31 from United Methodist Church in Oshkosh with Rev. Conely Hinrichs officiating. Burial was in Ash Hollow Cemetery at Lewellen. Holechek Services were in charge of arrangements.
