Description	:	William Slane Obituary. William Thomas Slane oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lane Slane of Burlington was born in Elizaville, Indiana August 23, 1866. He moved to Burlington with his parents when a small boy and has since lived in Coffey and Woodson counties. He was married to Addie Manson in February 1892. William Thomas Slane oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lane Slane of Burlington was born in Elizaville, Indiana August 23, 1866. He moved to Burlington with his parents when a small boy and has since lived in Coffey and Woodson counties. He was married to Addie Manson in February 1892. To this union were borne five children, four boys and one girl. Two boys died when small. Mr. Slane leaves a wife, three children, Effie, Willie and Roy; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. Slane; three sisters, Mrs. H. Schlichter, Mrs. H. Shannon and Mrs. Mary Fairchild; two brothers, Nelse and John, and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. His brother John lives in Oregon and was unable to be here for the funeral. Mr. Slane was taken sick with stomach and bowel trouble while working in the field on Wednesday July 27. He was taken home and the physicians called immediately and everything that loving hands could do was done, but to no avail. He passed away Saturday, July 30. He was conscious to the last. Realizing the end was near called his wife and children to his bedside for parting words and goodbye. He was a loving husband and father and a good neighbor, and the esteem in which he was held was shown by the large circle of friends and relatives who met the remains at the depot Monday and accompanied them to the home of his father and mother where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. McWilliams. A short service was held at the home near Yates Center Monday morning by Rev. E. W. Spencer. Both services were filled with comfort and sympathy for the bereaved family. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The body was laid to rest in Graceland cemetery by the side of his two little sons. [The Daily Republican (Burlington, Kansas) - Monday, August 8, 1910]
