Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Shannon were held at the home southeast of Burlington at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon conducted by Sen. G. H. Lamb of Yates Center. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Fanny Coffin, Mrs. McGinnis, Gen. Sims and Mr. Cooksey. The pall bearers were Andrew Clem, Warren Merrill, Bill Clem, Frank Decker, Bill Ingwersen and Spence Levering. Burial in LeRoy cemetery. Sarah Elizabeth Shannon was born in Boone county, Ind., September 5, 1854 and died at her home January 1, 1934 at the age of 79 years 3 months and 1 day. She was married to Harve Shannon February 7 1875 and to this union ten children were born. Bert a little boy died in infancy and Pearl departed this life on January 8, 1923. The surviving children are John, Roy, Harry and Mary of the home, Mrs. Ivy Mozingo and Tom of Parsons, Mrs. Flora Decker of Burlington and Mrs. Ella Gallaher of LeRoy. Also 16 grand children and the following sisters and brothers. John Slane of Wenschee, Wn., Nelse Slane, Mrs. Mary Fairchild and Mrs. Nannie Schlichter of Burlington. They with the aged husband and a host of relatives and friends are left behind to mourn her loss. Mrs. Shannon came to this county with her husband in 1876 and has lived here ever since, she knew the hardships and trials of a pioneer life. She was converted to Christianity when a young woman and believed in the Christian faith. She was a faithful wife and a loving mother and a kind neighbor. She was always thoughtful of others ever ready to sacrifice her own interests for the benefit of those whom she loved. She is gone but not forgotten.
