Description	:	William Taylor was born at Warsau (sic), New York, August 19, 1842, and died at Angus, Nebraska, May 3, 1923, deceased being 79 years, 8 months and 14 days of age. He was of a family of eight children of whom all survive him except one brother. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1867, serving three years in Company C 23rd Infantry. He was married to Mary A. Read More	William Taylor was born at Warsau (sic), New York, August 19, 1842, and died at Angus, Nebraska, May 3, 1923, deceased being 79 years, 8 months and 14 days of age. He was of a family of eight children of whom all survive him except one brother. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1867, serving three years in Company C 23rd Infantry. He was married to Mary A. Thompson of Guthrie county, Iowa, on May 26, 1875. To this union there were born five children, two boys and three girls, all of whom with their mother and six grand children survive him. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Nelson I.O.O.F. lodge, belonging the (sic) Order over forty years. During all his sickness the deceased bore his suffering without a murmur. The funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in the Christian church at Angus, and were conducted by Rev. S.S. Lemonds of Pawnee City, assisted by Rev. Etherton and Rev. Hagee. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Edgar. Card of Thanks. We desire to thank the people of this community for their kindness in the sickness and death of our beloved husband and father. The funeral services were held in the Christian church at Angus Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Lemonds of Pawnee City. The remains were laid to rest in the Edgar cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the community in their bereavment. He was born 19 Aug 1849 in Hancock, Illinois son of David M Taylor and Eliza Jane Hopson. He was their oldest child. He can be found in the 1850 US Census for Illinois. In addition to the three children listed there are two more, daughter - Florinda b. abt 1877 in Iowa and Charles R b. abt 1884 in Iowa. ------------------------------------------- Note: BIRTH - The stones says 1849; the obituary says August 19, 1842, but the 79 years, 8 months and 14 days would make it August 19, 1843. The 1920 census has him born about 1848.
