Description	:	William Von Rentzell passed away at Lundberg Memorial Hospital Sept. 6 at the age of 85. He had suffered a stroke July 4 and never recovered. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, Sept. 9 at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. Karl Durdel, pastor of Golgotha Lutheran Church east of Creighton, officiating. William Von Rentzell, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Von Rentzell, was born Nov. 24, 1874, in Kolu, Germany. At the age of seven he came with his parents to the United States and settled in Knox county. He spent the greater part of his youth on the family homestead near Center. At the age of 17 he moved with his parents to Gotha, Florida and at that place he renewed his baptismal vows by the rite of confirmation at age of 19. His occupation took him to several states, including Tennessee, where he met Elizabeth Gertrude Dickey and was married to her on Dec. 22, 1897. Four daughters and seven sons were born to them. In 1902 he moved to Missouri and six years later moved to a farm east of Center. He made his home in the Center area until 1953. Most of his remaining years were spent in the Creighton area with members of his family. He was at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Reinhard Doerr, when he suffered a stroke, July 4. At the time of the blizzard of Jan. 12, 1888, he was attending the Plum Valley school near Center. He was able to take the teacher and pupils to a farm home with his team of horses and sled. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William (Grace) Beckman of Winnetoon, Mrs. Doerr (Bertha) of Creighton and Mrs. Frank (Mary) Koenig of Center; four sons, Fritz of Beatrice, Gustav of Creighton, Walter and Cecil of Omaha; 26 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; one sister, Hanna Emery of Omaha and one brother, Carl of Fordland, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; an infant daughter, Dorothy; three sons, Oscar, Albert and Earl; a sister, Lita Prosser and two brothers, Frank and Fritz.
