WARD DIED LAST FRIDAY Funeral Services Held Here Sunday Mr. William Wesley Ward, one of the city's well known and most highly regarded residents, died in the McCready Hospital Friday of last week, following a long illness. He was 61 years of age. He was born in Crisfield in 1892, the son of the late Thomas and Mary A. Ward, and had for many years resided on Maryland Avenue. WARD DIED LAST FRIDAY Funeral Services Held Here Sunday Mr. William Wesley Ward, one of the city's well known and most highly regarded residents, died in the McCready Hospital Friday of last week, following a long illness. He was 61 years of age. He was born in Crisfield in 1892, the son of the late Thomas and Mary A. Ward, and had for many years resided on Maryland Avenue. Mr. Ward had been engaged in the seafood business practically all his life. He had been a waterman, a seafood packer, and was well versed in the catching, processing and packaging of crabs, fish, oysters, and other varieties of seafood. A friendly, smileing man, he was quick to do a favor for a friend and to help anyone at any time. He had a keen interest in community affairs and was a useful and valuable citizen. He had friends in all walks of life who admired and appreciated his fine qualities and held him in the highest esteem. Funeral services were held in the Covington Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. A. B. Frye, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Mina L. Ward, one son, Mr. William Ward of this city, a foster son, Mr. John E. Sterling, also of Crisfield, a brother, Mr. Fred Ward of Baltimore, and a sister, Mrs. Murray Ward of Crisfield. The Crisfield Times, June 18, 1954 pg.1
