| Description | : | William Westwood (W. W.) Jones (1841-1916) (UNC 1862) was born in Henderson, N.C., which is now in Vance County. His younger brother was attorney Armistead Jones. During the Civil War, William Westwood Jones entered Confederate service in Company G of the 3d N.C. Cavalry in 1862 after completing his college degree. He was with General Barringer's brigade of Cavalry at the close of the war. In December of 1872 he married Bettie E. Johnson (Elizabeth Earl Johnson) in Raleigh, N.C. W. W.
