Description	:	WILLIAM B. SUNKEN William B. Sunken, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sunken, was born in West Dunum, Germany, October 7, 1866. At the age of 14, he came to the United States with his family and they settled in Illinois. In 1886, he moved to Missouri and on November 23, 1893, he was married to Anna Armstrong at Kirksville, Missouri. They lived in Missouri for 35 years, moving to Nodaway in 1921. Sunken, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sunken, was born in West Dunum, Germany, October 7, 1866. At the age of 14, he came to the United States with his family and they settled in Illinois. In 1886, he moved to Missouri and on November 23, 1893, he was married to Anna Armstrong at Kirksville, Missouri. They lived in Missouri for 35 years, moving to Nodaway in 1921. About a year ago he went to the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. H. Lucas in Red Oak, where he passed away on August 7, 1948, after an illness of several months due to a heart ailment. Survivors include his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Lucas of Red Oak, and Mrs. Curtis Hicks of Sparks, Nevada. Three sons, George and Roy Sunken of Red oak, and Vernon, of Omaha and a step-son, Grant West of Red Oak. There are 19 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and also a sister, Mrs. Anna Keister of New Cambria, Missouri. Two daughters, Mrs. Alma Young and Fannie Sunken, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Nodaway, at 2:30 on August 10th. Rev. Wayne Sheffel, officiating. Pall bearers were Wallace Patton, Richard Ritnour, Otto Heard, Frank Arnott, Fred Rascher, and Leon Lane. The music was furnished by Mrs. Everett and Mrs. Dismukes, with Carol Rowe at the piano. Burial was made in the Nodaway Cemetery, with the Perryman Funeral Home of Red Oak in charge. Adams County Free Press, Corning, Iowa, Thursday, August 19, 1948, age 13
