Description	:	Branchville - Willie Hampton "Bill" Carson, 60, of Branchville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Lexington Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Gray and the Rev. Bobby Etheridge officiating. Bill was born in Orangeburg, a son of Katherine Jackson Carson Player and the late McLone "Mack" Carson. He retired from the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Bill received numerous service citations and awards including five Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR.... Surviving are his wife, Barbara Carson of the home; his mother of Orangeburg; sons, Paul (Cristine) Carson of Brunswick, Maine, Kevin Carson of Olympia, Wash., and Michael (Desiree) Carson of Yelm, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Campos of Irmo; a stepson, Daniel (Desiree) Packer of Las Vegas; sister, Ethel "Billy" Reed of Orangeburg; brothers, Macky (Paula) Carson of Holly Hill, and David (Connie) Carson of Harleyville; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.
