Description	:	Marion's 1st name was for her grandfather Willie (William Washington) Brannon, even though it was a boy's name. Her parents had promised Willie Brannon that they would name their next child after him, so they kept their promise even though she was another girl, the 5th girl. She never used Willie. Her parents had promised Willie Brannon that they would name their next child after him, so they kept their promise even though she was another girl, the 5th girl. She never used Willie. I never knew Marion, her sister Rebecca Wright told me a few things about her. She admired her sister but she felt sorry for her, she said Marion did not marry the man she loved and she was not happy. Marion was very pretty, she had her mother Sarah Brannon side's black hair, and she was tall, unlike her other sisters who were all light-haired & shorter. The exception was her oldest sister Pauline Rhinehart who also had black hair but was short. Marion was engaged to a man who died young, her sister Bunt said Marion was bereft when he died. Then she met JC Splawn working at the mill, he was the son of the mill manager & he looked exactly like her fiance who had died. Bunt said Marion made a mistake marrying JC because JC Splawn wasn't the same kind of man Marion had loved, he wasn't good to her & she was not happy in her marriage. And then JC divorced her & took her children, his father was a policeman & had clout, Bunt said JC & his family did Marion wrong. Bunt said Marion saw her children some after the divorce, even though the court had awarded them to the father, they would meet her without telling their father in different places. Marion died of a sudden massive brain hemorrhage. Marion had called Bunt late one night & told her she was not feeling good & asked her to come over, she said she'd unlock the front door for her. Marion was living alone at the time, her husband had already divorced her. When Bunt got there, Marion was in bed, unconscious. Bunt called the ambulance & on the way to the hospital, Bunt said Marion started seizing in the ambulance. At the hospital, they told Bunt that Marion's brain had had a massive hemorrhage & they didn't expect her to ever recover; they couldn't even see how she had managed to get out of bed, unlock the door and get back into bed. Marion's body lived about 2 weeks & died. I made a point of asking aunt Bunt to give me a medical history of her family, partly because my grandmother Pauline - her sister - had died the youngest of the Barnett girls at age 36, probably from a stroke brought on by a blood clot following a hysterectomy. Bunt said several of her sisters also died of brain hemorrhage's in their 50's, including Marion, and of the others all but one died of abdominal cancers. The exception was Aunt Bunt, she later had dementia like her father, hers being caused, or exacerbated, from her bile duct bursting in the late 1970's; her gall bladder had already been removed in the 1940's. Most of the Barnett girls lived only into their 50's, like their mother, but fortunately for me, aunt Bunt lived into her 70's, which she said she never expected to happen because she was always the most sickly of the Barnett girls, having had asthma and allergies all of her life. I was very lucky I got a chance to know her. Their mother Sarah Brannon Barnett had died of uterine cancer, their father Henry had died peacefully in his bed at Bunt's house of dementia. Sarah & Henry Barnett's three youngest children had died of meningitis in childhood. All the 3 youngest children of Sarah had died young, and Bunt, her 6th child, was sick most of her life from asthma & allergies. (Bunt also had 5 children who were not healthy, 3 died within a year of birth, the other 2 had to have operations in the 1st year to survive.)
