Mr. Zimmerman, an Anamosa car dealer, died Friday morning, Aug 4, following an apparent heart attack while demonstrating a new car to a customer in Anamosa. He was born March 1, 1919 near Scotch Grove, the son of Wilke and Minnie Otten Zimmerman. He graduated from Anamosa high school and served in WWII. He was married to Charlene Wilkerson Jan 9, 1943 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kans. Following his discharge from service, he entered the automobile business in amber. He moved to Anamosa in 1954 and was president of Zimmerman-Hall Motors, Inc. at the time of his death. He also was associated with car businesses in Springville and Monticello at one time. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Michael Wilhoit of Anamosa, Kent Zimmerman of Tipton and Vaughn Zimmerman of Anamosa; seven grandchildren, and his mother, Mrs. W.J. Zimmerman of Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his father in 1968. Pallbearers were Vernon Helgens, Galen Helgens, Harlan Helgens, Harvey Siebels, Merle Jansen and George Tobiason.
