Wilma was born on October 1, 1944, in rural Vining, Iowa, the daughter of William John and Mayme Blanche (Roubinek) Riha. She grew up on the family farm near Elberon, and remained a farm girl at heart throughout her life. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1962. Wilma married James W. Hickson, on August 25, 1988, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They moved to Dallas TX in 1988, and to Peyton, Colorado, in 2012. Wilma cherished spending time with family and friends; they were the most important part of her life. She devoted her life to helping others. Wilma had several collections, including apples, Pepsi memorabilia, moose, goldfinch statuettes, and Snow Village. She always kept things very organized. Her true passion was photography, especially pictures of nature and hot air balloons, and creating photo albums. She loved traveling by car, driving thousands of miles per year (taking lots of pictures along the way) to visit family and friends. She was a formidable domino and Scrabble player; beating her was never easy, and always a cause for celebration. Jim converted her into being an avid hockey fan. She was a season-ticket holder for Air Force Academy Hockey, attending games with Jim, and also followed the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche; she adopted the Denver Broncos as her football team. She rarely raised her voice, unless it was during games. Wilma is survived by her husband, Jim Hickson, of Peyton, CO; three children, Suzanne Schwartz of Conrad, IA, Kristine (John) Kelleher of Peyton, CO, and Brian (Jami) Schwartz of Rockwall, TX; two step children, Chris (Jill) Hickson of Kenosha, WI, and Kimberly (David) Spaw, of Houston, TX; six grandchildren and two great grand children; one sister, Pauline Sienknecht of Clutier, IA; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clement and Stanley Riha; brother-in-law, Ralph Sienknecht; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Riha.
