Mrs. Murphy was born Auguest 14, 1900, at Mt. Clare, Nebraska to Walter Fred Elledge and Edith Belle (Strawhecker) Ellege. She was the third of seven children. Wilma Elledge married Edward Everett Murphy on July 22, 1922. Her husband died on September 16, 1974. Mrs. Murphy was a loving mother, homemaker, elementary teacher, telephone operator and drug store clerk. She was an active member of the Methodist Churches in Nelson, Stanton, and Neligh, Nebraska. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a past worthy matron and P.E.O. Survivior include one son, Dr. William Murphy of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Lawrence) Shapland of Phoenix, Arizonia, Darlene (Mrs. David) Janovy of Mankato, Minnesota, Nancy (Mrs. David) Lederer of Rochester, New York; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren;a sister, LaVerda Glennen of Westminster, Colorado, and one brother, Jack Elledge of Willets, California. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 1986, at 11:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Nelson, Nebraska, with Dr. Paul Samuelson officiating. Music was provided by Ivan Schafer playing a solo of "The Old Rugged Cross." Casketbearers were: John Christiansen, Jim Dredla, Larry Herman, Mark Murphy, Michael Murphy and Howard Wagner, Jr. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
