A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. The family will greet friends following the memorial service. Memorial have been established to the Park Place Long Term Care Unit or to the donor's choice. She was born August 8, 1916, to Dr. James M. and Alta Davidson Howe in Hillsboro, Iowa. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and was honored two years as an Iowa High School all state basketball player. She went on to graduate from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant with a degree in Education. She taught high school English and directed high school plays until her retirement n 1978. She also coached girls high school basketball for many years. she taught at Milo, Rathburn, Hillsboro, Salem and Harmony Consolidated Schools. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Wilma and M.M. Doan, Jr. were married March 28, 1951. They lived in Hillsboro and farmed east of town for many years. After retirement they spent many happy winters in Mesa, AZ. Wilma was a avid reader and was much loved with a heart of gold. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Florence Bellile and brother and wife, Lawrence and Mildred Howe. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, two nephews, Milan (Beverly) Bellile, Johnston, Iowa, and Galen Bellile, Arlington, Texas and their families.
