Funeral services were held 10:30 Wednesday morning,September 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, anamosa with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery, rural Monticello. Wilma Georgena Dirks was born July 8, 1922, near Amber. She was the daughter of George and Lena Rieken Dirks. Wilma graduated from the Anamosa Schools in 1940. She then started teaching in the rural schools near Anamosa and at Morley. She completed her teaching degree at Upper Iowa University in 1973. Wilma taught in the Olin Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Wilma G. Dirks and William T. Himebaugh were married February 14, 1942, at Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1993. Wilma was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of the Naomi Circle. She was also active in the Hospital Auxiliary and the N.E.A. Surviving are four children, Sandra (Larry) Taylor; William (Pam) Himebaugh; Douglas (Peg) Himebaugh and Lori (Skip) Herrera; one sister, Laura (John) Snyder; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one grandson and three brothers. The Goettsch Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
