Read More	Wilma (Billie) Hugh Rollstin, daughter of Frank and Fannie Shields, was born on a farm near the village of Siam, Iowa on March 4, 1927 and passed away from natural causes on January 20, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan. Billie graduated from New Market, Iowa High School in 1944 and later graduated from Michigan State University. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. On October 18, 1947, Billie married Robert (Bob) Rollstin and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage together. They lived in Iowa City for 6 years, during the time Robert attended the University of Iowa Medical School. Billie was a teacher in a one room county schoolhouse during this time and she reflected on this experience as a special period in her life. After Robert graduated from the University of Iowa, they resided in Honolulu, Hawaii while Robert completed his medical internship with the United States Army at Tripler Army Hospital. They moved to Okemos, Michigan in 1954, met lifelong friends on Ardmore Street, and moved to East Lansing in 1960. Billie was a Master bridge player, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, all forms of word puzzles, and always had a jigsaw puzzle in process on a folding card table that was never far away. She most enjoyed her years at the family cottage on Lake Missaukee, in Lake City, Michigan, where she enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, morel mushroom hunting, playing bridge with her partner Betty, and countless social gatherings with family and friends. After Robert’s retirement from Oldsmobile in 1979, they moved to Southwest Florida, where they enjoyed 28 years together in Cape Coral and Fort Myers. They returned to Michigan in 2008 to be closer to family. Billie was preceded in death by Robert, her parents, her brother Reid Shields and his wife Waive, her sisters Betty Crawford and her husband Clark, and Ruth Shreck and her husband C.J. Billie is survived by her three children and three grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. As a smart pragmatic farm girl raised in Iowa during the 1920s and 1930s, after receiving word from family or friends of some significant happening, Billie would often remark, “That is the way it goes.” She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. Billie donated her body to the University of Iowa School of Medicine for educational purposes. She will be interred at Shearer Cemetery in Page County, Iowa, which is only a mile from where she was raised on her family’s small Iowa farm. Her memorial will be held at Shearer Cemetery.
