Description	:	Wilma J. Croghan, 79, of New Vienna, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Croghan. Mrs. Croghan was born April 27, 1933 at the family farm to William and Nellie Evans Thornberg. She worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, was a New Vienna village clerk and retired from New Vienna Elementary School as a secretary after more than 40 years. Croghan, 79, of New Vienna, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Croghan. Mrs. Croghan was born April 27, 1933 at the family farm to William and Nellie Evans Thornberg. She worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, was a New Vienna village clerk and retired from New Vienna Elementary School as a secretary after more than 40 years. Wilma was very active in her community and loved serving others. She was a member of the New Vienna United Methodist Church and was involved in many activities there including organist for many years, United Methodist Women, Gentle Shepherd Variety Store, bell choir director, finance team, administrative council, food pantry, Vacation Bible School, annual chicken barbecue and harvest bazaar. She loved to travel with her family and friends. She always looked forward to her many trips. She loved spending time with her family at Sunday dinner every week and playing games with all. Wilma is survived by one son; one brother; one sister-in-law; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a very special great-great-granddaughter on the way; and two nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Chiquita Croghan and Carolyn Thornburg; and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Harley Croghan. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the New Vienna United Methodist Church with pastor Dan Mayo and pastor Sarah Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the L. Eugene Smith and Son Funeral Home in New Vienna. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the New Vienna United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Community Care Hospice.
