Read More	Wilma Jean Hanson, 80, passed away March 27, 2009. She was born February 9, 1929 in Lexington, NE. She lived with her parents Walter and Edith Bunsen on the family farm. Wilma was graduated from high school and was privately tutored on the piano. She was united in marriage on October 16, 1946 to Eugene Hanson. They were blessed with three daughters, Kathryn Johnson (Minneapolis), Kristine Kraft (Denver) and Geane Hanson (deceased). From the marriages of the two surviving daughters Wilma became a grandmother of three grandchildren, Eric Johnson (Kansas City, MO), Krista Johnson Martin (Andover, MA) and Angela Kraft Meldahl (Denver, CO). She was especially proud of her six great-grandchildren and though she did not see her family often, she faithfully corresponded or called on anniversaries and birthdays with greetings and presents. Wilma tirelessly supported and encouraged her family in the formation of Christian principles and educational goals, not only in words and actions, but also in example. She believed the greatest responsibility was to "love thy neighbor." Beyond her devotion to family, she loved to play the piano, providing music for the religious services on the Pride of the Susquehanna riverboat for several summers, nursing homes, religious gatherings and other occasions. In addition, she positively interacted with people by providing financial contributions, sharing literary information in her attempt to be a Good Samaritan. Wilma worked many years as an educational secretary in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Big Spring High School in Newville, and Carlisle). Because of a number of relocations by the family in order to achieve further education, research and teaching, she attended many churches in Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Pennsylvania. She and her husband were regular attendees at the Carlisle Friends Meeting. Wilma supported the concept of non-denominational Christians. She enjoyed fellowship with people and her cheerful manner permeated all her personal relationships. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, confidant, advisor, homemaker, optimist and problem-solver. She advocated the exchange of hugs each day in place of handshakes. Her effort to apply her Christian beliefs on a daily basis in every possible situation has sustained her during 63 years of partnership with her husband and has been an inspiration to the members of her immediate and extended family. She was a member of the PA Assoc. of School Retirees and the PA Farm Women's Assoc., Club #1. She will be truly missed by all. She was a tireless worker who attempted to be a good and faithful servant in all encounters with others. Published in the Patriot-News on 4/2/2009
