Loomis , 95, of Fairfield died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield. Wilma was born May 6, 1918, near Douds, Iowa, the daughter of Harold L. and Esther Marie Ferrel Stump. She grew up in the Douds community and attended rural schools, graduating from Douds High School. She married John Stanley "Stan" Loomis on June 11, 1937, at Davenport. They lived in the Chicago before moving to Fairfield in 1946. Wilma worked as a housekeeper at the Fairfield Newsstand and in the kitchen at Parsons College. She did alterations for the Dads & Lads Clothing Store in Fairfield and retired as manager of the Bargain Box. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield for more than 70 years. She was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Walton Club. Deceased family members include her husband on Oct. 17, 1995; her parents; her son-in-law, Fay Weber; and a great-grandson, Dustyn Adam. Surviving are her son, Richard S. and wife Belinda Loomis of Bettendorf; her daughter, Shirley Weber of Douds; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; plus her sister, "Willie" Doud of Ottumwa. Graveside services were Tuesday at Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Douds, with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Fairfield. Online
