Description	:	Wilmer Alan Talbert, the son of William and Belle (Hadley) Talbert, was born December 2, 1906, on a farm near Trumbull, Nebraska, and passed away January 5, 1983, at the Kearney County Community Hospital in Minden, Nebraska. In 1920, Wilmer moved with his family to a farm northeast of Minden. He attended school in Kearney County, including Minden High School, and has been a resident of the county since that time. Read More	Wilmer Alan Talbert, the son of William and Belle (Hadley) Talbert, was born December 2, 1906, on a farm near Trumbull, Nebraska, and passed away January 5, 1983, at the Kearney County Community Hospital in Minden, Nebraska. In 1920, Wilmer moved with his family to a farm northeast of Minden. He attended school in Kearney County, including Minden High School, and has been a resident of the county since that time. On December 31, 1931, he was united in marriage with Myrtha Jacobsen of Minden. Three children were born to this happy union: Nelia, Alden and Arden. As a young man, Wilmer operated a repair shop and did custom threshing. In later years he was involved in farming and land leveling. The custom threshing continued for 25 years. And since 1967, he and his sons and grandsons have been involved in threshing bees, demonstrating the methods of farm days of old. He has been an active member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church of Minden, serving as a member of the choir, the Board of Trustees, and the Board of Elders. As a boy, Wilmer was part of their family orchestra. Music has continued to be a love of his life as he participated in quartets and other singing groups for many years. At one time he was President of the Kearney County Farm Bureau, and was the first President of the Goldenrod Chapter of The Good Sam Club, a nationwide travel trailer club. For the past 13 years he and Myrtha have enjoyed wintering in their trailer in Phoenix, Arizona. Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phillip. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Myrtha: daughter, Nelia Greer of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Alden of Heartwell, and Arden of Minden; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Willard of Minden; four sisters: Rachel Blauch, Minden, Elizabeth Youngson, Sun City, Arizona, Alida Flesner, Hastings, and Harriett Maase, Albuquerque, N.M.; aunt, Lewelyn Winters of Hastings; many other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services for Wilmer were held Monday, January 10, 2:00 p.m., at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joseph Barr officiating. Interment was in the Minden Cemetery.
