He was born July 5, 1924, at Spanish Lake, Mo., to William and Ida Meyer Schewe. He married Fae Sadler May 5, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo. Read More	Wilmer "Bill" Fred Henry Schewe, 86, of rural Douds, died at 9:11 a.m. Nov. 29, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua after a brief illness. He was born July 5, 1924, at Spanish Lake, Mo., to William and Ida Meyer Schewe. He married Fae Sadler May 5, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo. Bill graduated from Jennings, Mo., High School and attended Washington University, St. Louis, where he earned a certificate in chemical engineering. He worked at McDonald Aircraft in St. Louis, farmed southwest of Douds, was general superintendent of Douds Stone, Inc., and was a sales representative for Schaefer Mfg. Co., a manufacturer of lubricants. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairfield, Lutheran Layman's League and John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, Douds, and served 15 years on the Cardinal Community School Board. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Dr. Ruth McAndrews (John) of Davenport and Dr. Mary Bossard (Rev. Dr. Gerald) of Madison, Ala.; a son, Karl Schewe of Clinton; six grandchildren, Jeanette Augustyn, Heather Bossard, Sean Strothman and Caleb, Johannah and Rebecca Schewe; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Alexis Augustyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Edward Olheide; and a sister, Marie Schewe.
