There will be a funeral service on Friday, September 18, at 1:30pm, at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. James Laning will officiate. Viewing will be on Thursday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull and the family will receive guests from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the pool park shelter house in Hull. Wilmyna was born on March 28, 1927, in rural Ireton, the daughter of Ben and Alberta (Van Maanen) Bleyenberg. She grew up on farms in the Ireton and Sioux Center area where she attended country school, Sioux Center Christian School, and Western Christian High School in Hull. Following her graduation, she enrolled in summer school at Westmar College in LeMars and then taught at Sioux Center Christian School and the State Line Country School north of Rock Rapids. On August 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Tunis “Tony” Jansma in Sioux Center. They lived on farms near Hull and were blessed with four children, Diane, and her husband, Dave Bonestroo; and Marlys, and her husband, Cliff Koele, all of Hull; Rachel, and her husband, Dave Griess, of Loveland, Colorado; and Terry Jansma, and his wife, Dee, of Doon. After their retirement from farming in 1990, they moved to their home they built in Hull. Tony passed away on August 15, 2011, in Sioux Falls. In January of 2015, Wilmyna moved to Aspen Heights Assisted Living in Hull, and then became a resident of Fieldcrest in September of 2018. Mrs. Jansma was a member of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Martha's Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed her teaching years, gardening and sewing, vacationing and camping, and the many family gatherings she hosted and attended. In addition to her children and their spouses, she is survived by fourteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Bernice and Pete Rynders, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Lori and John Hoksbergen, of Hull; a brother Alvin Bleyenberg, and his wife, Betty, of Sioux Center; a brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Harriet Jansma, of Ellsworth, Minnesota; a sister-in-law and her husband, Bernice and Noralf Barstad, of Brandon, South Dakota; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Lauren Faith Diekevers; a still born sister; a sister and her husband, Artie and Elmer Bonnema; a brother-in-law, John Haverhals; and three of her husband’s siblings, Gert, and her husband, Jim De Boer; Jane, and her husband, Pete De Boer; and Bart Jansma.
