He was born August 1st, 1917, in Henry County, Kentucky, the son of George and Nannie (Stivers) Meriwether. He was a charter member of the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church and was the former treasurer for the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Madison. He was a graduate of Bedford (Kentucky) High School, and Brian Stratton Business School in Louisville. Read More	Vevay Reveille-Enterprise---January 22, 1998 Wilson Meriwether, 80, of Vevay, passed away Thursday, January 5th, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born August 1st, 1917, in Henry County, Kentucky, the son of George and Nannie (Stivers) Meriwether. He was a charter member of the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church and was the former treasurer for the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Madison. He was a graduate of Bedford (Kentucky) High School, and Brian Stratton Business School in Louisville. He retired after more than 30 years with the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville as a machine operator. He was also manager for a time for the Jay C Food store in Madison and was a clerk and meat cutter for the old Krummel's Grocery in Vevay. He resided in Vevay the past 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. On October 5th, 1945, he married Hilda Wentworth, who survives. Other survivors include his sons, George Allen Meriwether and wife Vilma of Spring Valley, California and Donnie L. Meriwether and wife Louella of Vevay; his sisters, Mary Breed of Trumsberg, New York and LaVerne Nelson of Eminence, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Rosemary and Catherine Meriwether; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Nora Trujillo and Elva Meriwether; and three infant brothers. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 18th, by Reverends David Dicken and Melvin Wentworth at Ebenezer Wesleyn Holiness Church at Moorefield. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Vevay American Legion and Vevay VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church. Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
