Description	:	Creston Advertiser Wilson Shannon Coleman died at his home in the east part of Fontanelle, Tuesday morning, August 6 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 26 days. Read More	Creston Advertiser Wilson Shannon Coleman died at his home in the east part of Fontanelle, Tuesday morning, August 6 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 26 days. Heart trouble was the cause of death. He was the oldest son of John and Lavina Coleman. He was born August 11, 1853 in Johnson county, Iowa where he resided with his parents until the age of 19. In the spring he drove in a covered wagon to Adair county where he broke the prairie soil of part of his father's farm, located three miles north of Fontanelle, known now as the Rogers farm. His parents and two brothers came in the fall. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gerver, January 1, 1879. She departed this life June 28, 1911. To this union were born three sons, Jesse of Staples Minnesota, Clyde of New Plymouth, Idaho, and John of Nevinville. Mr. Coleman has lived in and around Fontanelle all of his life except about two years spent in the west. In the year 1904 he with his wife moved to Indianola, Nebraska for his wife's health, where she seemed to improve for two years, then became worse and they traveled by train and wagon, making a trip of 2,400 miles, but it seemed there was no help for her. She departed this life as stated above. In the year 1913, August 20, he was united in marriage to Ida Williamson. In the year 1914 they moved to Indianola, Nebraska, where he owned and operated a hardware store. They returned to Fontanelle in the spring where they resided ever since. He leaves a widow and his three sons, their wives, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two brothers, Charles of Fontanelle, and Joe of Des Moines, their wives and their families all live to mourn him also a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Breeling of Grant. Interment was made in the Fontanelle cemetery. Clyde Coleman of New Plymouth, Idaho came for the funeral of his father W. S. Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. George Coleman of Creston attended the funeral of their uncle, W. S. Coleman. Adams County Free Press August 15, 1929 Page 13 Mr. and Mrs. John Coleman were called to Fontanelle Tuesday morning by the sudden death of Mr. Coleman's father. The gentleman was about 75 years of age and his death resulted from heart trouble. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Fontanelle on Saturday afternoon having been delayed awaiting the arrival of a son, Clyde Coleman, from Oregon.
