Description	:	Winfred Arthur Noll, youngest son of Jacob and Catherine Elizabeth Sheets was born on a farm 2 1/2 miles north and 3/4 east of Arthur, Iowa, on July 2, 1881. After graduation from the 8th grade of Blaine No. 1 country school, he took a course at the Denison Business College. He was united in marriage with Mary Lucinda Bleakly on June 28, 1911. Four children were born to them, Margaret Elizabeth, Darrell Jacob, Allan Bleakly, and Francis Arthur. The family circle was broken by the untimely death of the mother on September 12, 1929. Under the father's leadership, the family stayed together until the death of Allan in September 1941. As a boy, he attended the Congregational Church north of Arthur. Worship at the Silver Creek Methodist Church marked the first years of his marriage. After moving to Arthur in the spring of 1918, his home church became the Arthur Methodist. After his return to farming in 1926, the family made it to church by buggy or bobsled when the mud roads became too rough for the family car. He was the happiest when working and continued to assist with the farm work after his retirement in 1946, helping put up the crops the past year. In 1940, he succeeded J. J. Smith as representative of the Ida County Mutual Insurance Association and other insurance companies. For 26 years, he carried the assessor's bags through Hayes or Blaine Townships. He relinquished the assessor work last fall. He was a volunteer fireman in the days before the Arthur department became motorized. During the 1918 to 1926 sojourn in Arthur, he did team work for Ida County and the C & NW Railroad. He was one of the backers of the Noll family reunions which have met for 21 consecutive years at Storm Lake, Iowa. During his 78 years and one-half years, he never lived farther than 2 1/2 miles from his birthplace, but his influence and integrity are known throughout a wide area. Survivors are the daughter, Margaret, of Arthur; the sons and their families, Darrell and wife Marie and children, Elizabeth, Catherine, Barbara, and Margret of the home farm north of Arthur; & Francis and wife Evelyn and children, Craig, Mark, and Ann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Vance of Crawford, Ne.; Belle Foard of Ida Grove; and Mrs. Nona Pearl Fair of Laurens, Iowa; and a host of relatives and friends.
