Description	:	Winifred G. Guthrie, 95, died June 20, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center. Born Aug. 4, 1909, in Tamms, IL, daughter of the late William and Margie Hargis Hulen, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston and served as a volunteer Gray Lady at Missouri Delta Medical Center for many years. Guthrie, 95, died June 20, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center. Born Aug. 4, 1909, in Tamms, IL, daughter of the late William and Margie Hargis Hulen, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston and served as a volunteer Gray Lady at Missouri Delta Medical Center for many years. She was a wonderful Christian lady who lived her life in such a way that others could see her love for God. She was very active in her church, where she was a WMU leader, supervised church library, taught Sunday School and was always loyal and generous in ministering to anyone she knew who was poor or needy. She loved giving to the Baptist Children's Home. Ms. Guthrie loved to cook, make quilts, listen to music and tell stories. She had a loving, caring heart and a great sense of humor. Even at the age of 95, with Alzheimer's disease, she remembered words to favorite church hymns, which brought radiance to her face as she listened and sang. Her sweet attitude and funny little laugh has endeared her to everyone who has been blessed to know her. Her life was always centered around her God, her church and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister. Ms. Guthrie has definitely left this world a better place because she was here. We rejoice that she is finally home with her God, whom she loved so much. She was married to Robert L. "Bob" Guthrie, who preceded her in death on April 3, 1982. Survivors include: three grandchildren, Brenda Greer, Dave Guthrie and Dawn Clark; two sisters, Doris Cutrell and Jean Porter; one daughter in law, Joy Guthrie; one granddaughter-in-law, Regina Guthrie; and several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Barbara Jean Greer; one son, William Robert Guthrie; two sisters, Mary Cox and Margaret Mason; and two brothers, Russell Hulen and Bill Hulen, preceded her in death. Visitation was until time of funeral services at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Dr. Rick Ramsey, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Pallbearers were: John Newman, John Heacox, Cliff Ham, Larry Tucker, Gary Robbins and Doug White.
