She was born to Eric and Mary Wood on Jan. 9, 1925, in Okanogan, Wash. Winnie spent her childhood at the family ranch near Duley Lake, where she attended elementary school. Winnie was a life-long resident of the state. She was an employee at Sears and Roebuck, Seattle store for 37 years, she retired in 1987 to return to Okanogan to be with her mother. Winnie is survived by her brother, Eric and his wife, Pat Wood of Ritzville; her two daughters, Linda Glirstien and Jeff Valentine and Mary and her husband John Mathers; and two grandchildren, Alex and his wife, Nichol Mathers, and Kristine and her husband, Ryan Hoeflin. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and other beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Ward; and her husband, Walter Glirstien, who passed away in 1978. Services were held at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel, 2547 Elmway in Okanogan on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Richard Roberts officiating. Interment followed at the Omak City Memorial Cemetery. Following the graveside services refreshments were available at the Masonic Temple with all invited. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
