Dossett, daughter of Jacob and Emma (Unzicker) Dossett, was born June 23, 1913, in Mount Hope Township in McClean County, Ill. She moved with her family to the Spencer, SD area, where she grew up and attended school. She married Earl D. Carey on Sept. 24, 1931, in Mitchell, SD. Carey, 87, formerly of Spencer, SD died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Salem, SD. Winifred L. Dossett, daughter of Jacob and Emma (Unzicker) Dossett, was born June 23, 1913, in Mount Hope Township in McClean County, Ill. She moved with her family to the Spencer, SD area, where she grew up and attended school. She married Earl D. Carey on Sept. 24, 1931, in Mitchell, SD. The couple farmed near Salem and Spencer until 1971, when they retired and moved to Spencer, SD. Her husband died in 1982. She was a member of the Spencer Christian Church and VFW Auxiliary Post No. 3499 of Spencer. Survivors include two sons: James and wife Pam, and Curtis Gene and wife Norma, both of Anoka, Minn.; two daughters: Carol Hart and husband Kenneth, of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Vonda Terveen of Emery, SD; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Morris Dossett of Madison, SD; and three sisters: Glenna Pepmuller of Mitchell, SD; Myra Schevlin of Columbus, Neb., and Betty Figgly of Vero Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Ronald, and a son-in-law, Ronald Terveen. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Salem with burial in Spencer Cemetery.
