Grace Winona Angell, daughter of Harold and Cecile Kaster Angell was born Jan. 26, 1922, on the parental farm in the Earlville-Dehli area. She grew to young womanhood on the farm and received her education in the schools of Earlville and graduated from the Earlville high school. Following her schooling she worked until marriage. She was united in marriage with Merle McDowell on Feb. 11, 1942 at Coggon. They engaged in farming in Prairie township and they farmed together all of their lives until his death on Feb. 29, 1972. She continued to make her home on the farm until her passing. She was a long time member of the Silver Creek Methodist church. Mrs. McDowell is survived by four children, Mrs. Roger (Betty) Satterlee of Manchester, David Merle McDowell of Walker, Richard Eugene McDowell of Cedar Rapids and Miss Patricia Ann McDowell at home; her father, Harold Angell of Earlville; two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Maureen) Troutner of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Donald (Doris) Jazzlett of Independence, and several nephews, nieces and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, one in infancy, her mother, one brother and one sister. Miss Grace Winona Angell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Angell of Earlville, and Merle McDowell, son of Mr. and Mrs. George McDowell of the Robinson vicinity, were married at the Christian church at Coggon at two-thirty o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 11th (1942).
