Description	:	Wynn G. Winkler was born in Ravenna, son of Gus A. and Maude Noyes Winkler, on February 23, 1908 and died on February 13, 1999 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He moved to Las Cruces in 1970 upon retirement from Whirlpool Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Antiock College in Ohio after graduation from Ravenna High School as part of one of Antioch's earliest work/study programs and further attended the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved to Las Cruces in 1970 upon retirement from Whirlpool Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Antiock College in Ohio after graduation from Ravenna High School as part of one of Antioch's earliest work/study programs and further attended the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Wynn Winkler was a mechanical and refrigeration engineer. Upon his retirement from Whirlpool, his colleagues presented him with a plaque detailing the many patents awarded in his name to the companies for whom he worked between 1935 and 1970. these patents included such now familiar devices as icemakers, defrost systems, bowling alley sanding machines and a ball-lifting apparatus for bowling. These patents were awarded during his years as an engineer with Frigidaire, Crosley, Brunswick Balke Collender, Reynolds metals, Seeger Refrigeration and Whirlpool Corporation. He was an avid amateur radio operator from high school on throughout his life. he and a close high school friend had the first radio station in Ravenna, Nebraska. He was an official member of the Rag Chewers' Club under his call sign WQCBZ. He has been a member of the Mesilla Valley American Radio Relay League since 19171. His membership in ARRL began in 1948---W8DNG (Muskegon, MI), WQCBZ (St. Paul, MN) and W5SUU (Las Cruces, NM). Most of all he will be remembered by friends and family as a generous and devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey Hart Winkler, his son, Wynn H. Winkler of Foster, City, CA, his daughter, Myra Winkler Sabine and son-in-law, Col. R. Travis Sabine and granddaughter, Carolyn G. Sabine of Albuquerque, NM, and his sister, Wilma Fraser and brother-in-law, Donald Fraser of Lincoln, Nebraska, and nephew, Greg Fraser and family of Los Angeles, CA and sister-in-law, Harriet Hart Draper and husband Dale Draper of Valley Center, CA. Graveside services were held May 29, 1999 at the Pleasanton Cemetery with Rev. Mary Lloyd, from England, in charge of the service. Dinner was served at the Pleasanton Methodist church by the UMW ladies. Memorial donations were to be given to the Ravenna Genealogical and Historical Society of Ravenna or to charities of the donor's choice.
