He was the third son of Wm. and Ruth Hixson and the first to be called from earth. On Nov. 18, 1869 he was married to Anna Carey. To this union were born nine children---four sons and five daughters; Minnie M., Orley C., Arthur L., Myrta M., Everett T., James E., Sarah Catherine, Rebecca R., and Maggie Irene. All are living and with their mother, twenty-six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three brothers and one sister survive to mourn the loss of a devoted husband, a kind father and grandfather, and an affectionate brother. His entire life was spent in Highland Co., within a few miles of this place and needs no eulogy. Honesty and integrity marked his every business transaction. Industrious in every fiber of his being, he toiled cheerfully and gladly that he might provide for and add to the comfort of his family, who now will miss so much his counsel and advice. Neighbors and friends will miss him for he was ever kind and obliging, and as the tears of sorrow fall upon his bier today, there is sadness and regret in many hearts o'er the loss of a friend and as these dear ones treasure his memory throughout the years to come sweet will be this tribute which comes from the lips of those who have known him along life's pathway, "Taylor Hixson was a good man." He has gone from us but back across the years we review his life and as we do so the following beautiful quotation appropriates itself to his memory--- "I'll never cross life's stage again; So in the wake I leave behind I'll hope some one with willing pen Will write there words, 'Both good and kind.' And may the paths I make be cleared Of stumbling blocks for others' feet, May some sad, faltering soul be cheered Through meeting me upon life's street."
