Zane was born July 5, 1923 to Harold and Aida McBride in Logan. He graduated from Logan High School in 1940. On Oct. 8, 1944 he married Alverna Meeske of Wisner, NE, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan and immediately thereafter left for the service. To this union two sons were born, Kent Zane and Karol Dean. He and Alverna spent their entire married life farming in Harrison County before his retirement. Zane was interested and involved in many local and county activities throughout his lifetime. He served on the Harrison County Fair Board for several years, was a member of the Soil Conservation Committee, the ASCS Committee, held various offices and was active in his church and served on the Logan Swimming Pool Committee that helped revive Logan's first swimming pool. Zane is survived by sons, Kent and wife Evelyn, Logan, Karol Dean and friend Jayne Dinsmore, Omaha, NE; brother Norman and wife Betty, Alamo CA; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Aida; wife, Alverna; sister Bonnie and brother-in-law Victor Krebsbach and sister Dixie Grenier. Memorials may be designated to the Logan Fire and Rescue Association.
