She was born March 2, 1921 in Schuyler County, MO to Elmer Dewey and Zella Fidena Wheeler Smith. She married John Bussing May 4, 1941. He preceded her in death January 2, 2009. Zella was a cheerleader and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1939. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 55 years. She was a 50 year member of Enterprise Rebekah Lodge #132 and also served as a Past Noble Grand Officer. Surviving is a son-in-law, Ron Davis of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Conrad Francis Bussing and a daughter, Zella Reneé Davis. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church.
