Born February 7, 1934 in Fairfield Township, Franklin County Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Sallie Ann (Hibbard) Roark. On October 6, 1951 she was united in marriage to Earl Cooley Jr., and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2002. Born February 7, 1934 in Fairfield Township, Franklin County Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Sallie Ann (Hibbard) Roark. On October 6, 1951 she was united in marriage to Earl Cooley Jr., and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2002. She was retired from Sperry Rubber & Plastics in Brookville, and was also known as the cook of the former Hertel's Restaurant in Brookville. Zella was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Brookville. She was an avid collector of dolls, Beanie Babies, John Wayne, Elvis Presley, and birds. She was especially proud of her flower gardens and working in her yard; and was well known for her Chocolate & Banana Pies and her beloved beagles, Lady & Candy. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert & Patricia Cooley of Brookville, Indiana and Daniel & Ginny Cooley of Connersville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Christina (Randy) Eckstein, Bobbi Jo (Thomas Mitchell) Cooley; Patrick Cooley, Robert (Denise) Cooley and Amanda (Jason) Bosstick; six great-grandchildren, Gabe & Cole Eckstein, Harmony, Samara and Tamia Mitchell; and Kylee Bosstick; a sister, Celeste (Fern) Roark of Brookville, Indiana a brother, Cecil Roark of Connersville, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucy Mae Quigley, Lula Lackey, Esther Gulley, and Nora Helen Hanna; a step-sister, Theo Wolfe; brother, Tom Roark and a step-brother, Robert Roark. Robbie Cooley & Cecil Roark will officiate the Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 1:00 P.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Family & friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue in Brookville. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Humane Society or the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
