A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa. Zellus Leon House was born on June 14, 1927 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Zeno H. and Bertha E. (Taylor) House. He was a 1945 graduate of Maquoketa High School and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Arla Viola Gruenwald on October 6, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Zellus returned to Iowa where he worked various jobs mostly in sales and also worked 9 1/2 years at Clinton Corn Processing (now ADM). He retired from Clark Oil Company as a sales manager in 1990. Zellus was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa. He was an avid golfer with bragging rights of a hole-in-one, and a bowler with a 300 game! Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Arla House of Bellevue, IA; children, Jane (Lorin) Steines of Moline, IL, John (Lavonne) House of Sabula, IA, Carol Gerboth of Shelby, NC, Connie (Mike) Tengwall of Buffalo, MN, and Curtis House of Buffalo, MN; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn (Harlan) Wilslef of Preston, IA; and a sister-in-law, Sandra House of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joyce, brothers, Alan and Keith, and sons, Monte and Mark House. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Zellus L.
