She was born August 26, 1914, in Faulkner, Iowa, the daughter of Gottlob Friedrich and Norma (Frank) Laipple. She graduated from Hampton High School and went on to receive her 2 year teaching certificate from Iowa State Normal School (UNI). Read More	Zelma May Hoffman, 91, of the Western Home Communities-Martin Center, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Martin Center. She was born August 26, 1914, in Faulkner, Iowa, the daughter of Gottlob Friedrich and Norma (Frank) Laipple. She graduated from Hampton High School and went on to receive her 2 year teaching certificate from Iowa State Normal School (UNI). On June 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles Miller Hoffman in Hampton, Iowa, who died August 10, 2001. She taught elementary school for 17 years in the surrounding area. She was a 55 year member of the Girl Scouts and a member of the Juliet Low Society for retired Girl Scout leaders. She also served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Sartori Memorial Hospital, and in many capacities at First United Methodist Church, including a four year term as President of Church Women United. Zelma is survived by her daughters, Ruth Elaine Hoffman of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and Linda Beth (Dan) Holm of Cedar Falls and granddaughters, Kendra Elizabeth Seema Holm and Tara Elaine Sukeshini Holm, both of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Aron Laipple.
