Description	:	Zelophehad Duval was born in 1810 either in Maryland or Virginia. His parents have not been identified. He was a miller for much of his life. "Zilophehad" Duval and "Susan" Herring were married on 3 September 1835 in Frederick County, Maryland. The couple are known to have been the parents of six children. The couple are known to have been the parents of six children. Susannah died in 1854 at the age of 39. Zelophehad Duval married Sarah Herring—first wife Susannah's sister—on 30 May 1855 in Frederick County. The couple are known to have been the parents of three children. He died in 1889, at the age of 79 years, in Washington, D. C. He was survived by his wife Sarah. Notes Zelophehad ("dark shadow") is mentioned in the Bible (Numbers 27); father of five daughters who sought to inherit his property, as he had no sons. The will of George Herring dated 5 Apr 1837 (proved 12 Aug 1837), and Equity Court Records of Frederick Co., Maryland, show that Susannah was the daughter of George and Mary Herring, and the wife of Zelophehad Duval (and that Mary Herring had married Peter Boyer.) According to testimony of Mary and trustee Sebastian Ramsburg, in Oct 1839 Susannah was age 23 (and Sarah was 17).
