Read More	Zeola Esther Domeier was born on February 24, 1921, to Fred Buroughs and Esther (Johnson) Buroughs in Hamilton County near Aurora. She passed away November 12, 2010, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 89 years, eight months, and 19 days. She was the younger of two children in the family. She became a child of God through holy baptism on May 8, 1932, and was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grafton on February 15, 1942. Zeola's family moved to Chapman, and when her mother's health failed, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. Her mother died when Zeola was about ten years old, and she eventually went to live with her Uncle Albert and Aunt Cecil Johnson in the Sutton area. Zeola attended District No. 63 Country School in Fillmore County, and graduated from Sutton High School with the class of 1939. She had taken normal training so that she could teach after graduation. She taught 19 students in all eight grades at District No. 89 in Fillmore County for two years. She then worked as a secretary for the J.C. Penney store in Geneva. She was united in marriage to Vern A. Domeier at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grafton on March 8th, 1942, and was blessed with three sons. Zeola always took her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker; however, as with most women of her day, she was often needed to "help" with the outside farm work. She did chores, helped with milking and the cattle work, had chickens and was occasionally called on to help truck the grain to town. She always had chickens and helped raise a garden, canning and freezing the produce. She was always active in the Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Group, taking her turn serving as an officer, and she taught Sunday School for many years. She belonged to the Inland Extension Club, and enjoyed taking her turn at serving the neighborhood birthday coffees. She was also an active partner in the family business, Verola Angus Farms, making lifelong friends in this endeavor. She considered it a blessing when she became a part of the Heritage Crossings family in 2004, always voicing appreciation for this wonderful new home and extended family of residents and staff. Zeola is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther; brother, Kenneth and husband, Vern. She is survived by three sons, Vaughn and wife Judith, Rodney and wife, Cherie and William and wife Pamela; sisters-in-law, Delores Mick, Florence Schroder and Deloris Domeier; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on November 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grafton with Pastor Stephen Kruschel officiating. Susan Baumann accompanied the congregation in the singing of "In Christ Alone," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Casket bearers were Aaron Baumann, Jim Baumann, Eugene Hinze, Elden Luethke, Jim Oberlander and Jerry Otte. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal November 2010.
