Obituary (Clarence (MO) Courier, May 17, 1905)- Zeralda Butner was born June 4, 1827 in Bowling Green, Madison county, Kentucky. She was married to Linzy Whiles when she was sixteen years of age. They lived together fifty six years, when her husband died January 6, 1899. Nine children blessed this union, five sons and four daughters, all of whom are living. She was married to Linzy Whiles when she was sixteen years of age. They lived together fifty six years, when her husband died January 6, 1899. Nine children blessed this union, five sons and four daughters, all of whom are living. The sons are Messrs Ferd who resides in Fort Scott, Kansas, Marion of near Woodville, A. N. of Quincy, J. B. and Nelse of this city; Mesdames Mose Hutton of near Woodville, G. B. Ellyson, John Tracy, and James Strange of this city are the daughters. She leaves one brother Harlan Butner of this city, and one sister, Mrs. I. Whiles, south of Clarence. Mrs. Whiles united with the Baptist Church at the age of 14 and lived a christian life to her death. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a friend to all. For the past 27 years she has been a resident of this city. Death came Friday night, May 12th to this mother and she passed away peacefully and gently, a fitting close for her life. She had said "Let me sleep," and when loved ones went to call her she was dead. Funeral services conducted at the house Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Eld. W. B. Green, and the remains laid to rest beside her husband in the A.O.U.W. cemetery.
