Description	:	Zopher Davis Cavender, son of Zopher Davis and Ann Cavender was born near Canolton, Perry County, Ind, April 19, 1858. He passed away Aug 19, 1941 at his home in New Market, at the age of 83 years and 4 months. In 1867 he came with his parents to Taylor county, locating on a farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of Siam. On Oct 16, 1901 he was united in marriage to Alice M. Levis. To this union three children were born, Mrs Max Gray, Clarinda, Iowa, Mrs Albert Funk, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Lee at home. He passed away Aug 19, 1941 at his home in New Market, at the age of 83 years and 4 months. In 1867 he came with his parents to Taylor county, locating on a farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of Siam. On Oct 16, 1901 he was united in marriage to Alice M. Levis. To this union three children were born, Mrs Max Gray, Clarinda, Iowa, Mrs Albert Funk, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Lee at home. In early manhood he united with the Baptist church in New Market. About 1922, because of failing health he stopped farming and moved to New Market, Iowa. For six years he was mayor of New Market but his health finally made it impossible for him to continue in public office. The last two years of his life he was confined to his bed. He is survived by his wife and three children, two sisters, Mrs Mary Arthur, Clarinda, Mrs Jennie Wells, New Market, two brothers, P.E. Cavender, Rockport, Mo, Roy Cavender, Plattsmouth, Neb, five grandchildren and a great many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Aug 21 at 2 o'clock at the Walker Funeral Home in Clarinda. Miss Aletha Hutchings and Mrs Doris Forbes furnished the music and Rev A.W. Duncan of New Market was in charge. Pall bearers were Ralph Kendrick, Elmer Eighmy, Dr Keith, Vanzo Drennen, Marion Pace, Roe Shores. Burial was in Old Memory. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Sep 1, 1941
