Description	:	Jennie Cavender, daughter of Zopher and Anne Cavender, was born at Neelyville, Ill, on Sept 17, 1866. She passed away December 22, 1947 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 5 days. At the age of 2 years she came to Iowa with her parents and settled on a farm in Taylor county where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with J.S. Wells on Jan 11, 1888, and at the time she was stricken with her last illness they were making plans to celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary next... Read More	Jennie Cavender, daughter of Zopher and Anne Cavender, was born at Neelyville, Ill, on Sept 17, 1866. She passed away December 22, 1947 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 5 days. At the age of 2 years she came to Iowa with her parents and settled on a farm in Taylor county where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with J.S. Wells on Jan 11, 1888, and at the time she was stricken with her last illness they were making plans to celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary next month. To this union were born five sons and three daughters--two of the sons having preceeded her in death. Surviving are the husband, three daughters, Mrs Frank Holland (Mae), Mrs Basil Scott (Anna), and Gladys. Three sons, Ray, Ivan, and Elvin. There are four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs Frank Arthur, Fulton, Mo and two brothers, P.E. Cavender, Rockport, Mo, and R.W. Cavender, Plattsmouth, Ne, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs Wells has been a devoted member of the Baptist church since early in life. Her entire married life was spent in the same farm to which she came as a bride almost sixty years ago except a few years spent in New Market. Mrs Wells was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, also a loyal friend and neighbor. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Jan 1, 1948
