Description	:	Brookside Cemetery, commonly misnamed Mazon Cemetery, is located on South Street, Mazon, Illinois, one-fourth mile east of Dwight Road. It received its first burial as early as 1865 according to a 1914 record in the Grundy County History of that year. In 1885, it was incorporated as a cemetery on land provided by Amanda Viner for the sum of $250. That old section of the cemetery is easily identified in the southeast corner, as the Viner Plot. It is surrounded by a crumbling wall, which is still clearly visible.
