Description	:	Deep in the forest is a large burying ground still known to older residents of the Troy (SC) area as the "Campbell graveyard," though there are no markers to anyone of that name. H. T. This pamphlet also includes a short sketch of the Regan family by Mrs. Martha R. Quattlebaum, daughter of Ed. O. Regan, and she wrote, "Jessie Regan came from Holland, settled in Abbeville (District ) and married Rachel Jay. They had 7 sons and two daughters. My father was the youngest child... Grandfather was a Quaker and owned a big place. He and Mr. Robinson together bought the Campbell graveyard from a Mr. Ruff. All our Reagan ancestors and some of the younger ones sleep there." The purchase of a graveyard was unusual. This sale must have been in the early 1820's as there is a tombstone there to "J. Regain," (presumably Jesse Reagan) who died in 1826. The nearest road to the Campbell graveyard is a surfaced county road which goes northwesterly from state highway 10 between Horeb and Mount Sinai churches, southwest of Bradley. About two miles from highway 10, and opposite Millway Church, leave the county road and take a rough logging road for about a mile, turn left (north) at the edge of the woods and go almost another mile across very rough cut-over land, bearing generally northward to the top of a hill where the trail ends. On foot, down the slope to the north into the woods and northwesterly for about one-third of a mile is the graveyard. The site is known to hunters as there was a deer stand in a tree beside a tombstone when we visited the place in July 1971. Our guides, Pete Edwards and Mitchell Thomas, spotted deer tracts [sic] in the woods nearby. 2012 Thanks to Jim Ravencraft who contacted James F. Bates with the U S Forestry Services who provided the map and current photos. Per Mr. Bates: I've attached some photos from site 38GN316. They were taken the first week of January. Also attached is a map showing the route (blue line) that I took to get to the cemetery. On the first trip to the area, Bobby took the crew along the creek. I hear that was a big mistake. Going the blue route brought me praises when I had to take the crew back in (supposedly took less time and was a lote easier going). The entire route is within Forest Service property.
