Description	:	The Centre Burial Ground - known in the past as the Old Cemetery on the Parade Ground - has some of the oldest remaining gravestones in the Bahama Islands. Alfred Johnson transcribed those "at present legible" of persons who were Americans in March 1914. His notes were published in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, July 1914, page 238. The Burial Ground is located just north of St. Matthew's Anglican Church on the eastern end of the Parade.
