Description	:	In the 18th century, missionaries travelling from Christ Church in Nassau Town, held religious services in the houses of the residents in Fox Hill who were freed African slaves. These services were eventually moved to a small wooden building on the property immediately west of the present St. Anne's Cemetery; sadly, it was destroyed by fire in 1810. It was replaced by another such building on the eastern side of the street, midway up the present St. Anne's Cemetery. These services were eventually moved to a small wooden building on the property immediately west of the present St. Anne's Cemetery; sadly, it was destroyed by fire in 1810. It was replaced by another such building on the eastern side of the street, midway up the present St. Anne's Cemetery. During the next 35 years, this building was partially damaged by successive hurricanes. Between 1845 and 1849, it was replaced by a stone structure, the first to be constructed on the church's present hilltop site and known as St. Anne's Anglican Church.
