Description	:	Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church is located on Shirley Street just east of the city of Nassau. The history of the Catholic Church in The Bahamas was built by the missionary work of The Sisters of Charity of Mount St. Vincent-on-the-Hudson, New York, who arrived in the islands in 1889, and the Benedictine Monks, who followed them two years later. Father Schreiner was the first permanent Catholic priest in The Bahamas; he arrived in Nassau on February 2, 1891.
